Apple releases Boot Camp
Apple announced that it has released Boot Camp into a public beta. The software allows you to install and run Windows XP on an Intel-based Mac.
“Apple has no desire or plan to sell or support Windows, but many customers have expressed their interest to run Windows on Apple’s superior hardware now that we use Intel processors,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “We think Boot Camp makes the Mac even more appealing to Windows users considering making the switch.”
I agree 100%. While many loyal Mac users probably could care less about this announcement, it’s really a big deal. Every Windows user who has been on the fence with moving to a Mac, now has one less reason not to switch. With Apple incorporating Boot Camp into the release of Mac OS X (Leopard), this move has the potential to increase the Mac’s market share.
